There is no linkage, there is a master and slave hydraulic system in play. Typically they need to
be bled or replaced depending on condition and age. The FSM has good details on doing this.
Sounds like yours needs to be bled or its leaking. I would bet its leaking at the slave cylinder.
Its located on top of the tranny just behind the oil filter. Take a look and see if you have a lot
of fluid showing there. If you replace one replace the other and the line as well. It will be money
well spent and the parts are cheap.

I agree with t.g. Farrell. I would replace all 3,you can probably get all 3 for less than 100.00 ,especially if you order them from rockauto or ebay. I just got a clutch master cylinder from AutoZone, it cost me 35.00

I always order from Mazdatrix, and while it may be a few dollars more, it helps to keep them in business to support those of us who will need them in the future.
Main page: Clutch Hydralics
Don't mess with the master cylinder rebuild kits - I've never had those last very long, and it's a pain crawling under the driver's pedal area to change it. Good luck,
