Clutch and Flywheel

So I have a 1982 12a that needs a new clutch. I know the stock clutch is a 215mm. Can I put a 225mm clutch on without changing the flywheel if I put the correct pressure plate as well?

Second question is I also have an aluminum flywheel. I always thought all aluminum flywheels were created equally but now I noticed that the early 12a and later 12a models have different part numbers on the racingbeat website. Is this just because the mounting hardware is different? I know I have mounting hardware for a later 12a so I assume this means the hardware I have is for a 225mm clutch, but are the two flywheels actually different too?

Thanks

225 clutch disc can be used on a 215 flywheel as well as 225 pressure plate. Im using 225 4-puck on an old 215 RB lightened steel in my RX-3.

Also, the old RB aluminum and light steel uses a 5/16 bolt but some have 8x1.00. The rb hardware kit will not come with 5/16 which is not an issue since 5/16 cann be purchased anywhere provided that it is rated 8.8 or higher

I had a 225 clutch and pressure plate I found hidden in parts stash and I mocked it up last night. Pressure plate wouldn't bolt up flush. Do you need to use spacers or something?

Yeah you need the aluminum spacer. Also with aluminum flywheel, get a long bolt and a nut to secure the pressure plate and lock tight of course

I am in the process of switching a 215 Racing Beat light steel flywheel to 225. I ordered the hardware kit from Racing beat to get the longer bolts and spacers and it requires the flywheel to have some reliefs machined into it so the pressure plate will work. Im getting it done at a local machine shop, They are also rebalancing the flywheel and pressure plate just to make sure the machine work does not throw it off balance.

The aluminum flywheel I have is a 225. But if I decide I don't like it and go back to the stock 215 will a 225 clutch fit? It looks like I will have to use spacers between the pressure plate and the flywheel.

I test fitted a 225 disc to a 215 flywheel and it looks like it will work, but, I do not think the pressure plate will work.
