Racing Beat Holley Jet Location

Looking to replace the jets to what should be the original size and cannot find the exact diagrams or manuals anywhere online on the location of the jets. Are they behind the plate inside the float bowl? I have an 83 rx7 with the 12a motor, seems to be a holley for a stock setup with RB exhaust. Thanks

Yes you need to remove the float bowls...the jets are pretty obvious once they're off. Also what jet# do you have in there?

Not sure. Bought .049 to replace with because previous owner mentioned something about bigger jets and honestly no matter how i tune it, it runs rich as hell. I was informed that .049 is standard for that carb/setup. The jets are at the bottom of the plate i guess? Just didnt see them, only saw bolts that hold a plate onto the carb. This is after i took off the float bowl. Thanks

Are you looking at the secondary side of the carb?

If theres only a plate with holes on it on the secondary side then you have a 4160. They have non adjustable holes in "jet plates"
4150 has metering blocks and jets on both sides. Take off the primary side thats where your jets are.

They are indents in what appear to be screws/bolts holding another plate onto the carb. Almost like funny shaped flathead screws

So does that mean only 2 jets total for the carb? And they would be the same size generally?

Yeah thats what the metering plate looks like. If you want there are options to change that setup. You can convert to 4150 style, theres adjustable jet plates and other sorts of adjustable jets for it. I have the same carb I was going to leave the secondary side alone. A bunch of guys on here told me the secondary fuel control isnt that important for RX7s.

I can't tell you what jets you have or should have I have no idea. Mine is not an RB carb I bought it from a Mopar guy. I bought a jet kit with 64-82..and it had 64s in it I believe.

Those funny looking screws are called clutch head screws and they require a specific tool that is commonly available.

Buy a holley book - that should be your first investment.

A rich condition can be caused by allot of things and not just jets that are too big. Holleys have a power valve that is used to provide high speed enrichment. If the diapham on the valve has failed it will need to be replaced. If you don't know its condition - replace it.

Again - buy a book.

Keep in mind that there are many "weights" of power valves. The rotary needs one that opens pretty early on account of ever changing vac levels depending on the engines sealing properties at different RPM's.

TLDR, 8.5+ rated power valves IF you plan to run one.
