Clutch fan help

Hi,
The clutch on this fan isn't working properly so I want to replace whole thing with the fan out of my other rx-7. Where do I unbolt it to take the fan with clutch out, red or blue. Thanks.

o.k thanks, That is what I thought. The only problem is when I try to unbolt it the whole assembly just spins and I cant turn the bolts , I guess I will have to get out the wd40 and find some way of bracing it so only the bolt turns. Also I got told that It wrecks the clutch if you lie the fan flat is this true?

The red bolts should come right out if you hold the alternator or A/C pulley while applying pressure to the wrench. If not, take a pipe wrench and put it around the alternator pulley. While holding the pipe wrench steady, take your 10mm wrench and remove the red bolts.

To help make it easier.. unbolt the fan shroud as well and remove/install it back at one time

Put a pair of vice grips on the part between the red and blue bolts. Thats what I did when removing the rat's nest(thanks pratch and RX7Carl).

NO!
That has to be one of the funniest things I've heard. Do you think that those fan clutches come all the way from Japan and are never laid down flat when they're new in the box? -WG
