Question Clutch adjustment

I changed the slave cylinder and tube. Now my clutch doesnt engage until the pedal is way far out.

Is this normal for after changing those parts?

I was thinking of just doing adjustments at the pedal. I know theres two ways to adjust it--but which do i do?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that no adjustment is required. If the clutch was working fine before you replaced the slave cylinder it should be back to normal. Did you bleed all the air out of the slave unit?

bleed again, did you compare the old slave to the new one? make sure they are the same.......
if the pedal is still low, adjust it from the pedal assy....

i think the cylinders look the same.

But i just read the haynes, and it says to run a tube from the bleeder to jar a with fluid or something. Do i have to follow that procedure?

I bled it normal without a tube on the bleeder or anything. Is that the prob?

You need to open that bleeder and get the air out of the slave cylinder. It's basically the same as bleeding brakes. How did you ''bleed it normal''?

uder the dash the clutch pedal rode that pushes into the clutch cylender can be adjusted in and out.
adjust it out till theres only a little play in the pedal before you start to feel pressure.

also you can bleed it...fun fun fun.

I bled it like i would normally bleed a clutch.

In the haynes it wanted you to have like a jar with fluid in it, and a tube running from the bleeder to the fluid in the jar.-------WHY?

Stupid obvious question: Do you have enough fluid in the resivior?

Mine was getting low and topping off the resivior changed the engagement point and feel of the clutch.

The point of the jar is if you don't have another person to help. You run a tube from the bleeder valve to a can/jar with the tube submersed in new fluid (with enough to fill the tube also), and open the valve and pump away. The point is to be able to pump once, and while pulling the clutch up not pull back air into the system, whether pull back in fluid. Keep your reservoir topped off and pump away till no bubbles are present and close er off.
