Clearance for e-fan

I have a 80 SA with a 13B engine installed and need to change out the e-fan i have on there. I measured the distance from the water pump pulley to the radiator core and came up with 3-3/4". I want a fan with a shroud built-in so how do people use the thicker e-fans? This is the fan i have on now and installed the stock shroud over it.. Thanks for any info...

I picked up one of those Taurus fans but couldn't fit it with my '85 GSL-SE (13B)

Remeber, 12A's are smaller than 13B's...

BTW, is that a Perma Cool hi-pef electric?
It's the best performing electric fan on the market. more CFM's with less power consumption.
I'm going to be using the 16" Perma Cool as a pusher in front of the rad (no shroud). 2950CFM is more than enough to keep things cool

pusher fan.....that'll tidy up the engine compartment. any pros or cons besides that.

i always heard that pusher fans aren't the best at high speeds when they are off and ram-air is cooling the system. pushers restrict airflow from getting into the radiator. anyone's thoughts?

Con:
Pusher fans are not as efficient as a good puller with a shroud, and they can restrict airflow SLIGHTLY when the car is at higher speed, but since they will spin freely when they're off, it's not as much most people think.
And if course there is far more air than is required passing over the rad at high speeds anyway, so the tiny bit of restriction doesn't actually matter.

The only real pro is the one you alread mentioned. Frees up space and cleans up the engine bay.

For the record, BMW uses a lot of pushers on their cars.

take the aluminum spacer off the front of the water pump and it will free up more room, just use shorter 10mm bolts. looks way better too. i hate that chunk of aluminum.

DOH!
Well, colour me stupid...

But I still need the space in the engine bay, so I'll still be using my fan as a pusher...

Yeah, that chunk of aluminum is pretty ugly. I just haven't gotten around to getting the proper bolts yet. Since it's not a functional issue, its not too high on my list though.
