Cleaning Up Those Stock Rims
Has anybody got a good way to clean up those discolored, black-spotted rims on an '85? Mine look like ****, and I have tried every way I can think of to get those black spots off, but no luck. Is there a good way to get these things looking new again?

I used...
I used a drill with a brass wire bush (and patience) to re-finish my 1991 MX-6 factory mags. I clearcoated them with polyurethane floor varnish (3 coats). It was still perfect when I sold the car 3 yrs later. And that's after 2 Canadian winters of road salt. You can use any paint stripper to remove all the existing clearcoat very easily.
For my RX, I got the wheels factory refinished, where they actually machine a few thousandths off the wheel, paint it, then clearcoat it. Its expensive though - $130 Cdn per wheel.
Note: I learned on my RX (GSL-SE factory original wheels), the wheels actually have a silver paint on them before the clearcoat. The MX-6 wheels didn't have that.

I started using never dull on the same sort of problem and it works great but is time consuming and a real pain, it takes a lot but the result I have found is slightly darker than stock finished rims but nice looking ona dark coloured car
