clean oil?
I was checking my oil level today and I noticed something kind of odd. My oil was still really new looking I changed it last week (almost 150 miles ago now) so i figured that it would look brownish-black like used oil is supposed to look.
im not complaining, but is that normal for a rotary?

this is because rotaries (if in decent condition) have significantly less blowby than piston engines.
In fact, I believe that the original recommended oil changes were 10K, also because you have to add new oil due to the OMP.
i used to change mine at around 5 or 6K and it would still look almost new when It came out. on a 100k motor.

You might not even have to change oil if you block off the OMP, and run on premix. The oil in the motor acts and functions just like gear oil. And how often do you have to change gear oil????
I am just joking. I change my oil every 3k.
