I was wondering if there was a company like that which provide classic car insurance but have no miles restriction etc... If so can you place name the company and if is NationWide and website link if they have one.

Oh yea, note: I am 27 years old with a perfect driving record so that won't be a problem. Thanks Matt22 I will check out that site.

Well I checked out the site and it looks like I need the car closed in a garage which I don't have. :/

A neighbor said he gets really good rates with Farmers. I haven't checked them out yet, but they did insure my motorcycle for cheap back in the early 80s.

Yes they do. I have my '85 rx-7 insured through Hagerty. Zero deductable, less than $200.00 a year.

he's refering to mileage restriction for clasic car insurance. And no the point of clasic car insurance is that it is cheaper becase it's a clasic and you're not going to be driving it. It's ment for show cars and sunday drivers. Thats why there are mileage restrictions. Other than that it becomes regular insurance. You can get your car apraised if you believe it is worth more than KBB. If it's appraised by a licenced appraiser then your insurance will have to value the car at that amount.

Sorry, it's Grundy that doesn't do Japanese cars if they're not part of a larger collection.

Many classic/collector car insurance companies don't require an appraisal, they insure it based on your estimate, reciepts and pictures.

If you go with a standard insurance company, they will require an appraisal.

Agreed. If you think the car is worth more. Then get it reappraised. The insurance company may or may not honor it. Ask questions and see. I think you guys will find out that these arent 1967 camaro's or 1957 chevy's. Japanese cars dont get the same 'favorable' treatment like these kinda cars do. And sadly they probally never will.

That's why Hagerty is so great. They insure it for what YOU say it's worth and they'll save you overt $500/year in premiums.

right now i pay 100 bucks with progressive with a shitty record, on my 72 stock rx2. which gets drivin maybe twice a month. I am gonna apply for modifed car insurance through the JT company. or at least call them and see. MY girlfriend gets a super good deal through Wanonesa not sure on the spelling. but She is jsut now 21, had a 97 Exploder, 94 del sol, and my 93 ranger on that policy for 850 a year for full coverage, with a 1000 dollar deducatable though.

Yeah, but its limited to how many miles you can rack up in a year. All the collector/classic insurance is this way because they assume its for pleasure only, and not a daily driver. Heres how you get cheaper insurance:

1. avoid tickets

2. avoid accidents or claims

3. get older

I'd rather stay younger and pay out the *** for insurance.

I say just get libility unless you really have a perfectly restored RX-7. If you already have comp/collision, the chances are you are paying $2000+ or more a year, in which case, you could save money by having liblity and fix any potential damage with your own money and the insurance company will determine your FB is not worth much over $2000 if you did have comp/collision! They will either make you buy the salvage title because the cost of a potential autobody repair is way over the value the car could fetch if you sold it, and then you have to figure they will give you the value of the car (determined by their adjuster I might add) and subtract the deductible and the cost of the salvage title. This is why I hate insurance companies.. My liablity insurance is about 1/4 the cost of having comp/collision. The savings equate to money you could have in a saving account and build interest on to use on a future accident.

If you are at fault in some collision and all you have is liablity, and the amount of damage to someone elses car is more then you could afford, then use the liablity coverage. But if its in the $500 range or whatever you can afford to justify, just pay for the damage to the others vehicle and not report to the insurance, they will increase your premium for any claim where the driver(you) are at fault. If your car is serious damaged in a accident with liablity, you are pretty much screwed and will have to pay out of pocket though. This is one of those cases were you could simply invest in a cheap RX-7 and transfer your parts to from a seriously damaged one?

And in the case you want to have comp/collision, have it apprasied for the value determined. Determine what company will give you comp/collision for a certain amount and the deductible. You could could get a pretty raw deal by having a big deductible-and could barely be worth having in the long run considering the premiums. Find out if they will increase your premium based on accidents, etc. Overall, its cheaper to pay out of pocket for our 1st gen RX-7's IMO, unless we are talking about a very new model car were parts are much more expensive to get.
