Checked out an 83. No Sunroof?? Rough Running...
Checked out a 83 the other day. Pretty good shape, needs some minor body work (replace front fender and paint car.)
It has NO sunroof?! How rare is this? Does it make it more/less desireable in the future if I decide to sell later? In the meantime, it's actually quite nice 'cuz I'm tall and there's more headroom.
Also, idles bad and dies. Lacks a little power. Has like 270,000 miles on it, BUT scratch is available in first 3 gears and oil pressure is GREAT and STEADY. Rough running through 3000 rpms and then smooths out. Starts RIGHT UP and doesn't smoke. I'm assuming that it's got a small ignition systge problem that I can fix easily.
Thanks in advance for your opinions!

yeah they came without sunroofs, I've actually seen quite a few without.. Doubt it's very rare. I would think the sunroof would give you more headroom since it pops up or removes.. oh well.
Depends how much you pay to compare with what you get. Anything under 1000 pretty good.

Yea, headroom was nice, compared with the other two I've owned.
Not sure on price yet, but I've never paid more than $500 for one. This one looks like it's in good shape, with just a little ignition work needed. Does my diagnosis sound right, based on the problems I described?

No sunroof cars are rather uncommon.
I know I'd pay extra for one, if I ever found one.
Unfortunately there are a lot of non sunroof cars that have been converted to sunroofdom! Bastards.

I never have a problem with the seats going back far enough. Usually I have my seats in the middle of the track.
This is because the seats are too high up, and the steering wheel is too close to the firewall.
Both of these can be fixed. The steering wheel part is easy, just find an aftermarket 14" wheel with a few inches of dish. (Hitting the turn signal and lights and whatnot will be more of a pain though) The seats problem is a bit trickier. I'll probably end up taking a spare driver's seat, removing the upholstery, and doing some heavy duty sectioning to make the seat as low as possible.

Cool... So it's been awhile since I was under the hood on one of these. From the description of how it's running, would everyone agree it's likely a minor problem with the electrical/ignition system?
Also, there's a module that sits on the inside of the shock pillar, it's black and has several wires connected to it with quick-connects. They have told me that if I don't unplug a certain three wires that the battery will discharge? What is this module? I'm guessing whatever it is, it's got a short in it if this is the case.

Sounds like they are talking about the fusible links. All battery current (except the starter) goes through those, and unplugging them is just like disconnecting the battery.

Oh yea... That's what they call it.
Damn, I guess that means it could be about a hundred things that are causing the battery drain... Hmmm... Guess I better get it cheap!!
