check out my idea for complete combustion in a rotary

we all know that rotary engines have trouble with complete combustion. if there was a way to improve combustion not only would it be a lot easier to pass e-tests, but there would be a jump in mpg and a power boost. so heres my idea...keep in mind im not positive this would work im just throwing out my thoughts so dont get mad if you think its dumb....anyway....what if there was a special ignition system setup so first the leading plug would fire, and then as soon as the rotor closed off the leading and trailing plugs in the same 'section' a super high-voltage pulse fires and arcs the gap from the leading plug to the trailing one...if it would work it would burn almost all the fuel....problems to overcome....to jump the gap it would take about 100,000 volts so u would need custom ignition coils....in order for the spark to arc (i rhymed ) through the fuel/air mixture and not through the rotor housing there would have to be an insulating coating strong enough so the spark doesnt discharge through the housing - possibly ceramics.......so what do u guys think, is it possible? it it stupid?

Unfortunately, it would not work. Electricity by nature will travel the shortest distance possible. If you were to do this, you would have a plug with no electrode to jump from one side to the other. It would actually jump from the plug to the side of the rotor housing... eventually, it would eat away the rotor housing.

Interesting thought, though.

"Electricity by nature will travel the shortest distance possible"....welll...not necessarily, electricity travels the path of least resistance...so if somehow you could make the rotor housing have so much resistance that it was more than then the air/fuel mixture, then it would work....except you are right about it eating rotor housing...even if you could get it to jump across, it wouldnt jump up into the air, it would hug the shape of the rotor housing and would toast it.....i wonder if there it some material that can withstand that kind of abuse...probly not

That is sortta right, the way to word it would be , electricity takes the path of least resistance.

NOw your theory in a way has already been tried, its called wasted spark, its already in use in FC's and FD's

One of the plugs fire into the exhaust cycle to clean up the unburned HC (hydrocarbons)

Frig that, I say add a third plug above the trailing, make the coil on it twice as powerful and see what happens.
