Center dash removal?

How would I go about removing the gray plastic piece that surrounds the stero and clock, etc etc without breaking anything? I glanced at it for a sec today and didnt see any screws or anything like that, my clock has a mind of its own so ima put an oil psi gauge where it lies lol

I just pulled apart my bro's 84 GSL and we both had a bit of trouble finding out how to get it out.

We got it out, but I can't remember if there were any screws, I thought it was just snapped in place pretty tight.

Anyone remember? I love those 84-85 interiors, but the simplicity of my 82 is nice. heh

take off the plastic around the shift boot......pull the rubber up and over the gear lever...then there will be 2 screws in the lowwer left and right of the center console......the pull the ash tray and deal with the 2 screws there...then there are another 2 up below the airvents that point up....take all these off...then take the **** off of the climate controls...and bang your done

No, you also need to take the nuts off that are behind the climate control ***** as well if he has the *****. If he has the slide type controls, then he needs to pull the rubber ends off the sliders .

Also remove the ashtray, makes it easier. Pull the bottom up a little, then wiggle it straight out. The upper vents make this necessary.

So, if that was hard to follow...

- Get under the shift boot and pop out the little plastic shifter-surround piece by pulling on the plastic tabs.

- Pop out the ashtray

- Unscrew the screws that were under the plastic surround you just removed and behind the ashtray (although I dont remember any behind the ashtray)

- Pull on the climate control ***** and take off the two nuts behind them

- Rip out the remaining plastic while making a Godzilla type roaring sound

I don't remember pulling rubber ends off of anything either, but then I don't know if I have these so-called slider type controls. *shrug*
