cat glowing

i am having problems still with my car, put on a manifold and carb i just baught from an 81 and its still not working correctly, i looked under my car and my main cat was glowing red, will this be the cause of no air pump or are they clogged?

if the cat didn't glow before you made the swap, then I doubt that's the cause.

Most likely, you have a huge vacuum leak somewhere....

my best bet would be clogged. good way to fix it is take it off and grab a stick and take out the insides. thats what i did with my cat.

I think they're right. You probably have a clogged cat. Try changing it.

i just today put a brand new Mazda trix intake manifold gasket and an assembly that i baught from a fourm member, the fuel is spraying out sufficient enough, carbs from an 81 and all, i think there is a leak because its making a wierd noise, i sprayed starting fluid and it revved up so there is one but why is it glowing cherry red under the heat shields?

The vacuum leak is causing it to run lean, and hot. Don't do that. Fix the vacuum leak and you will probably be all set and no more glowing cats...
