carter pump

there is a carter 4-6 psi 72 gal/hr pump for sale for $25 I'v heard 7's should get the 7psi pump. Will it make that big of a difference? Only $25. What do you think?

Nope. you don't want 7psi. Go with it, thats pretty cheap. A new carter 72GPH is like 70bucks. Just make sure the screen in the inlet of the pump is not clogged and if the pump is in good condition, you should be ready to go.

ok well i bought it. thanks for your help. Are those regulators that regulate in increments 1/2 psi increments any good, or do i need a continously variable one?

I'd stay away from those dial type regulators like the Purolator ones. Get a Holley 1-4psi regulator and mount it as close to the carb as possible. It has two outlets so you can use the extra one to plumb in a pressure gauge. I'm using a Holley 1-5psi gauge and it seems to work well enough.

you can run as much as 4 to 5 psi on the stock carb. i have a carter and holley regulator and am probably running something like that. i am not really sure. i donot yet have a gauge, and so donot know for sure. i just played around with the regulator until it was running well..

by the way, does anyone know of a good 0-15 psi electronic fuel pressure guage?
