thats a nice all in one there. Includes everything literally and would be an easier way of going for the less computer inclined. Mine will still be faster for less money though. I do like how they incorporated a dvd in there also

I also like the VOOM PC, with an external monitor. Looks like a regular Amplifier.

Seems to be Perfect to fit in front of the bins, right next to a regular AMP.

I was thinking of a mini itx mobo like yours (I think thats what size they are) it'd accept a athlon x2 processor, I got a few 3800's laying around, 2gb ram, 320gb drive, wifi

freebsd of course, i wouldn't touch that windows ****

you have to remember people go with low wattage processors to not rob too much power. Plus with a screen size that small, you can't use that many programs. I couldn't install Autocad on it because of it, wasn't that happy about that.

Well finally got some decent weather again here to actually work outside with. I decided to take on the task of cleaning up all the engine bay wiring and finally swapped my dual shielded wiring for the CAS. I just need to finish cleaning up all the 2nd gen coils and the 4 wires that go the DB37 Connection and from there on, I'll clean up my probably flooded engine now, and fire it up again.

Well can't leave a thread without a final result of it ... so here it is :

Those amplifiers that I have linked a few pages back or so work awesome. They have a low or high or off pass so you can really use it for what ever you want, and it pounds. I have the volume on the amp at about half way and even that is too much if I set the Carputer to Max volume. And lastly you can fit both of them right behind that screen.

Well we finally have a full video :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA94iNysklU

I think that I covered everything, but if you need anymore info please let me know . Youtube distored my video quite a bit though, so much for taking a good quality.

EDIT:
Forgot to say that both amps (one for front, and one for rear speakers) fit right behind the screen without problems and thats where they shall be bolted in the near future. Also I'll be running it as a dolby digital 4.1 or 5.1 if I decide to go with a sub later on but very unlikely.

Sam

Why do you need to run AutoCad in a car?

Okay, was wondering if you were planning on tying AutoCAD models into a monitoring software or something.

Nice setup, looks tight. Are you only able to adjust volume via keyboard / stylus or are you going to put a dedicated **** somewhere into the system too? Also, are you pulling radio in through the sound card or are you not including that at the moment?

Ultimately, I'll have a "Front End" installed on the computer, something like RoadRunner and what not. Its basically an interface that allows you to hook up to the internet, videos, music, cameras, large keyboard on screen, and bunch more stuff. This is a screen shot of it, you can change all the logos and what not to what ever you want:

So like this it would be all large buttons and alot easier to read. As for the radio, i don't have anything hooked up yet, but will most likely be just a USB device that i can just plug in, or just stick with like a satellite radio.

How well does it play MP3s? Can you play other formats with different codecs like the now defunct LQT? Or how about OGG Vorbis, which I understand has caught on at about the same rate as PNG picture files? Wav files?

To be honest, I've never dealt with those formats. But if it plays it good on your regular computer it will play it good in your car. You're biggest thing for good sound will be your sound card. MP3's in a rate of about 512kbps plays pretty good on there. The Creative softare does a pretty good job at cleaning up dirty noise and stuff from songs with low bitrate.

If you're refering to the radio part and how that works, you can get USB radio like this guy:

Well I have a few more updates that might be of interest. Now instead of doing the power button to the ashtray as originally planed, it is hooked up to the cruise control switch (the resume one for now to be specific). All three of them are just momentary switches anyways and will work.

Also another thing that went out is the sound card. It just doesn't tightly enough and kept on coming out of place or loose from its connections until it fried itself. Going back to the onboard (having never used it in the car) it quite really is night and day, you hear all kinds of static and engine noise throught it and it doesn't "crystalize" the sound properly. So having been fed up with it I went out today to experiment with the USB style X-FI:

http://www.soundblaster.com/products...=17751&listby=

Its pretty much the same money ( a bit less actually), but works just as good as the card and has an external volume control and mute (if you push down on the button) now with all this external control stuff, I think that I can maybe switch the power button to the "set" button for the cruise, and use the resume and what ever pushing it down to be my remote volume control. I wouldn't even have to look at the screen. Now it would be really nice if I can get something to switch songs but I might just be asking for too much now.

How did you integrate your 3.5mm jacks on your sound card into your vehicles audio? can you provide pictures? This is the only part thats holding me back from buying everything to make a carpc.
