X-06 connector rusted
X-06 connector rusted
Hey
The wires in the connector between the front and rear harness are corroded and some of them fell out. I'm not sure I can fix the actual connector. Would some other form of wire joint be okay, e.g. a butt connector?

I would do my best to find a connector or some sort (same amount of pins and male/female) and fix it yourself. Butt connectors suck and if you ever want to get this apart in the future, a connector would be much better.
I'm battling this right now with the X05 connector. The previous owner thought it would be better to cut both connectors off and butt connect everything. Fast forward to now and half the connectors fell apart and I just said screw this and replaced it with a RyWire harness. Ryan was nice enough to send me a 10 pin connector for me to work with.
Check Allied, MSC, and the other electrical distributors for a suitable connector. Good luck!

In the 1st Gen Archives Sgt Fox mentioned a website (http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/main.html) that has the connectors you will need for repairs. Good luck (and thanks Sgt Fox!)
You're welcome to perform any repair you see fit, and butt connectors probably would work. In my case, they did not. I would've settled for a good solder/heatshrink combo, but the **** job the previous owner did was amazing.
You should be able to de-pin the existing connector, cleanup, and reinsert. They make little tools that can de-pin all kinds of connectors.
