carb related

ok...i have a 79' but the previous owner installed a 12a engine from an 85'. Is it possible that he could have used the original 79' carb or would he have had to change it. The problem is my carb needs a rebuild and i wanna know... i haven't really checked if there's any model number on the carb but i just wanna put my mind at ease. also, if you know of where i can buy a rebuild kit for a good price lemme know please. Thank you

Either carb will work. Being in NJ i assume you have all your emissions intact? Rebuild kits info can be found doing a search on here. GP Sorenson/Standard 96-555 kits are good ones.
