carb problem??

okay guys. I have 80 12a rx7 that just recently got a carb rebuilt. the car runs great. but one thing that happens a lot is flooding. it only happen when you turn the key to start the fuel pump but not turning on the car. just letting the fuel pump run. in a couple of minutes, the carb tends to flood to almost to the top before I realize I should turn it off. could it be the float bowls that are adjusted wrong??? or adding fuel pump regulator should fix it?

What fuel pump are you using? When they rebuilt your carb, did they mess with the float settings?

sounds like the floats are not shutting off the fuel like there suppose to. pop off the float bowl and see if there's a needle valve at the pivot point of the floats and see if it stops at half way (i believe that's where they should be set)

Those new needle valves can stick sometimes. If you take the top off and pull them out and
lightly go over them with some very fine steel wool or emery paper and then reinstall they
should slide better.

Not the tips mind you, just the corners that guide the needle in its hole.
