GSLSE Distributor fire/ flooding

So here is the deal, my dad just bought a 1984 GSL-SE that had a engine fire that started from a short at the battery. The previous owner got the fire out pretty quickly but the distributor and some wiring was lost in the process. We have a 1985 GSL-SE parts car that he bought years ago, and he swapped the distributor over from that aligning the marks on the shaft, and setting the motor at TDC (the yellow mark not the red). He re-soldered the burnt wires with the wires off of the 85 parts car and it wouldn't start. I pulled the spark plugs out and cranked the engine over to clear out some gas and then lightly cleaned the plugs with a glass bead cabinet. reinstalled them to 13ft-lb and still it would not fire.

I read something about putting atf into the housing and cranking it to lube the seals, but not sure where to go at this point.

any ideas?

Check First that you have spark. With all the burned wires, that is where I would start.
