car wont run

I have a 86 GS the engine starts but wont run for longer than 15 secconds and the idle is VERY low (250 RPM). I checked the fuel lines and they flow freely as welll as replased the pump and filter, the ignition is in good working order as well. The car sat for three months and wold not start, after a healthy carb cleaner treatment it would run but not for very long. while messing around with the carb I pulled the 2 bolts out of the banjo fittings on the carb's fuel inlet, where the fuel fills the floats, I checked the screens and repaced the bolts with out the screens, it still wasn't getting enugh fuel. I took the bolts back out and the car will ruun great, but fuel pours everywhere. could there be a problem with my floats? am i getting to much or not enugh fuel? can anybody give me a hand, any observations would be helpfull.

Make sure you have the float bowl vent solenoid hooked up or at least open to atmoshphere.

Maybe it's just too damn hot here in tucson right now! Mine is hard to start if I let it sit over a week, but after it gets started it runs fine, sorry I don't have any suggestions, bTW, do you know of any S. Arizona Rx7/rotary car clubs??

If you think it may be too much fuel, check your needle valves VERY closely. I fought bad needles for 6 weeks before I finally found out that's what it was. Mine would idle and rev forever but flood out when I tried to drive. Trust me though if you're not sure if the needles are good or not, just save yourself the headache and frustration and replace them. I couldn't see anything wrong with mine until I held them next to the new ones. That's when I noticed the almost microscopic bend in the end that was allowing too much fuel to pass and thus overflowing the bowls and flooding the carb.

Good Luck,

THere is only one club I know of, and thats RCCAZ based out of Pheonix. I dont normally browse the 1st gen section since I am a 2nd gen owner, but there are NO 2nd gens here in Tucson that are on this forum, so I thought I would check the other generations.. I would like to meet some more 7 people here. PM me of you want.
