Car smells like gas

My car is in storage for the winter. Every time I go in the garage I am overwhelmed by the smell of gasoline. Is this the charcoal canister?

no, the charcoal canister absorbs the smell. To find the source of the smell, light a match and find out...

Seriously though, look for a leak I guess.

i would make sure that something isnt leaking aka your fuel lines check your carb just look in and see what is going on, check your gas level to if its empty and you had gas in it when you parked it you are probally leaking!!! with gas prices the way they are now adays i would highly sugest checking for possible sighns!!

Why do all the jobs involve getting dirty under the car?

I guess I'll go looking tomorrow.

Is it just me, or has everyone else grown to like that smell too? It's like a breath of fresh air smelling the RX7.

some people have said before that the smell is from the crappy out tail light rubber pieces. The exhaust then travels up from the muffler and back into the interior... just a hunch!

And for the record after changing to the weber carb, a 30 minute drive in my car and im high off the smell of gas (running BIG time rich...).

Hey everyone I found the leak, It was gas leaking into the carburator, dont worry! I sealed the carb jets with some RTV silicone sealer, I still have a half tank of gas! But now my car wont start!!! It turns over, and it has spark... Has anyone else had this problem??

^^^^Dude my 7 was being a bitch like that today. I went to start her after school and she would just crank but not turnover and she flooded. I had to push start her to get her home. Then it still wouldn't start, I had to push start it 2 or 3 more times before it decided it wanted to fire on it's own again. It was really weird. Sorry to jack but just my 7 giving my a workout for the day LOL
