go to the mazspeed site and look in the facts section for ATF. Do this! Probably should hit the carb with carb cleaner. Drain the old gas.
DO THE ATF even if you don't do anything else!

Check all the carb linkage for free movement - last thing you want is to start it up after an ATF treatment and have your throttle stick. You should also check you fluid levels (no brainer), hoses and belts, break lines and calipers (could be seized), shocks / springs (I don't know how it's been sitting - off the ground??). A lot of these things won't mess up your car on start up, but you should check them anyway. The carb sounds like it's varnished - clean it up once you have it running

Its gonna smoke like a chimney. Plan on it. But if the engine is ok it will quit soon.
I have heard that if you have someone spray a mist of water out of a hose into the smoke coming from the muffler a large portion of it will be absorbed be the H2O mist.
Never tried it. But maybe you could?

I agree with Northern 7...your carb sounds like it's varnished up. You might have to rebuild it before it'll even run (since you'll have to tear it apart to clean it up, may as well rebuild). Have you changed the fuel filter and gotten all of the old gas out of it? Changed the oil and filter? Make sure all of your belts are still good? Checked the spark plugs? All of these things can make starting a pain in the ***. Oh, it's also useful to have a car near by to jump yours if you wear down the battery.

HELL YEAH, it worked GREAT... Made the smoke, instead of thick white, to thin blue... Still Smoked though, count on it.....
