Can't get her started !!!

Greetings,

I have an 84 RX7s that I can't get started. Here's the history. Two years ago, I started the car and backed it out the garage for a wash job.

After washing and waxing, I couldn't get it to start. I completely ran the battery down and finally pushed it back into the garage.

Two years later .... I tried pouring gas into the carb with no luck. Next, I bought a can of starter fluid and sprayed the carb ... no luck

I have checked all fuses ,verified that I am getting spark, and I hear the fuel pump.

What can I do next?

Thanks In Advance!!!

just because u can hear the fuel pump doesnt mean u are getting fuel. disconnect the fuel delivery line at the carb and place it in a container. turn the key and let the pump run for a specific amount of time so u can figure out the flow rate. you can look up the proper flow rate in a manual probably, but im sure someone on here knows what it is supposed to be.

flooded after sitting for 2 years?

or do you mean you poured gas down the carb without trying to start it first?

What I mean is the quick cold start and shut down flooded the motor and now there is weak compression because it washed away the sealing properties of the oil and now it's hard starting. I would just get someone to tow start/push start you down the road and let it warm up to operating temperature and then do an oil change while it's still warm. After that, go for a little cruise to let the new oil fully lubricate everything and you should be fine.

Also, if you can't get someone to push or pull started you can try pouring some oil down the intake to see if that helps. Just know that if it starts after that you need to let it run for a while because its going to burn all the excess oil out the back. It'll be a cloudy day in your neighborhood

The other thing you can try is this:

Disable the fuel pump by unhooking the blue blade connector (located right next to the leading coil). Go back in the car, hold the gas pedal all the way down to the floor and crank the engine for about 15 - 20 seconds. If nothing happens, wait about 5 minutes and try again (maybe 2 or 3 more times). But, if you get some combustion, then keep reving until it dies out again. Now re-hook the fuel pump and try starting it normally (this time without touching the gas pedal).

This does it for me every time mine floods. It's very simple and quick. It's important that you hold the gas pedal down all the way throughout the procedure.

Good Luck!
