Can this rotor be saved ?
I bought a pair of rotors on ebay and one showed up like this.....

Is this now a paperweight ? Even if it can be fixed is it worth trying to use ? I hate to give up on a rotor I just bought.

Honestly that doesn't look all that salvageable...
To bend that back and then re machine it would probably not help the damage done.
I would sandblast it, paint it and sell it as a demo rotor and then get a new one to be safe.

I'd be asking the seller for my money back; it was either damaged during shipping (and therefore inadequately packed) or it was damaged before shipping, and therefore should not have been sold without full disclosure.
I'd never use that part, sorry; even if you got it "fixed" it's permanently weakened., and fitment at the corner/side seal junction is critical for compression.

Thanks for all the replies, It looks like I've got another fancy paperweight/bookend/clock. I contacted the seller and it looks like i'm going to get a refund for the rotor since it was packed improperly. I figured It was junk, but I thought i'd get another opinion. I contacted atkins today and it looks like i've got another one on the way.

I thought this is how Mazda packaged the rotor.. in a box with a hard cardboard ring that tightly fits the rotor as well as the box so there is no movement or banging around of the rotor during shipment. http://www.rotaryresponse.com/rotors/148023rotors.jpg

so the rotor tips are at least 1/2" away from the edges.
the main box is also heavier duty than a "normal" mazda box
That's a doorstop. I don't know what's with people not able to ship rotor motors. I shipped an entire 12a disassembled from CA to MI. Just use a lot of free newspapers from the laundry mart and free cardboard boxes from work's copy room.
