Can my GS have a gslse rearend?
My good bud said there are a couple se's in a junkyard somewhere across town(i need to go check it out). My rear end is so totally rusted and having the lsd and more common bolt pattern couldn't hurt. I have pretty much the base model but it should still bolt right up right? How much to rear ends usually run for in a junkyard? thanx, just researchin now and planning for later... God Bless
It should bolt right up. The thread pitch on the brake lines is different, you'll need to re-tap them. My guess is about $250.00 for a complete GSLSE rear end from the salvage yard. Of course, you'll need to spend money on new brake pads and hardware ($50). And you should probably get the brake rotors turned ($20). Good luck! Andy
the se pumpkin will fit in your housing no problem!
if you swap the entire rear end you need to swap the parking brake cables, brake line and porpotrioning valve, not to mention the bolt pattern is different too

Is there any propotioning valve besides the one that comes with the gsl-se that can be used. I ask because i have a gsl and a gsl-se rear just siting there havent instaled it yet just because of this .

Quick question, i have an 83' GS and i just picked up a rear axel from a Canadian export
83' GSL. Still a solid axel with the discs. Can anyone tell me if this axel came with limited slip?
Thanks.
