Can I do this?? (suspension related)
I have access to the front subframe from an fb, complete from rotor to rotor. I want to know wether i can take off the rotor/caliper/strut/spring/control arm from the subframe and bolt it onto my car to replace the same parts.
i think this might not be all that hard, so long as there is no big difficulty in getting off the lower control arms. This would be a very good, CHEAP way to get a set of good brakes (mine are all pitted) and non broken struts and non 4x4 springs.
i would just swap the strut/spring assembly for now, but i have an SA, and i'm not sure if the FB struts would fit, which is why i was gonna swap the control arm and everything.
so, can it be done?... easily?

yeah, i hope that's the case... because i know the SA and FB use different struts, i just dont know what's different about them.
i guess i COULD always swap over the front subframe... but that's a lot more work than just swapping strut/spring assemblys (which would take an hour)

I believe it is a direct swap, no mods necessary, I can't believe no one has chimed in that has done this with the facts. I'm sure someone will before the end of the day. Good Luck!

Yes you can do this!!! If you choose the FB control arm will fit the SA, but the two are the same part. The FB strut housing will fit the SA control arm and steering knuckle.
But here is the problem. The brake lines. The threads for the brake line on the SA caliper are diferent than the FB. SO, you need the FB brake lines to make this happen.
Good Luck

the subframes actually have the flexible lines still on them, so if they're in good condition, i can use those until i get my GSL rear and get the stainless steel lines.
allright, i'm gonna try to go grab that stuff tomorrow.

I just swaped all the front struts and bakes on my SA. The donor was a kindly ol' GSL-SE. It's a straight swap no problems. You don't even need the lower arm, even though I did take them. I do however need to get some brake lines now or at least some adapters to fit the new calipers!
All in all it's a fairly simple and straight forward job. A crow bar and a 17 mm wrench mostly.
So long as you got the parts!
