can a '79 sunroof be converted to '80 and later?

can a '79 sunroof be converted to '80 and later?

We all know the horry of having the '79 sunroof. Has anyone coverted, can it be done? Does anyone have pics of the two to compare and contrast?

the actual roof is completely different - so unless you want to chop-and-swap, I would say give it up, unless you are a welding/body genius and have nothing better to do

hey it would be hard but if you want it change it. i plan on changing mine out but not to another sunroof, eventually i would like to make it a t-top and still have it were it pops up or comes off thats gong to be hard but it will be different and look good i think so if you want somthing just do it, and do what u have to when you get to a problem

whats wrong with the 79 roof? Seems fine to me.

but yeah, converting the sunroof would be extremely hard. Stick with the one you got

How is the '79 roof different than all the others? I have never noticed a difference.

The way it mounts and the latch to lift it up is different than the later screw types.
