CAI with rats nest????

I've been looking at the threads on doin a cold air intake, only prob is all the ones i have read say that they have already done a rats nest removal. do u needs to do a RNR before the CAI? has anyone still got their rats and a CAI?

Any help would be great

First off, a RNR is cake, if you want to do any performance mods to your engine RNR is step #1 along with the air pump removal. Second a RNR will only net you POSSIBLY 2-3 Hp if any! But it will also clean up the bay... A CAI in reality is pointless, some will argue that it works wonders. However IMO its all hype. A street car will never see a benifit from it.

But I could be wrong, I see you are from down under. What does it get? 90-110 degrees or more? I suppose a CAI could in theory help performance, but any gain you might see will be minimal.

Yes you could use a CAI with your rats nest, but again it would be pointless to do so if the heater pipe from the exhaust manifold is still connected, then... well you get the idea... And anyone on this forum with CAI I can pretty much guarantee they have done a RNR...

RNR -- Easy as pie, get rid of old dry rotted vacuum lines
Air pump removal -- Just as easy, lose 5-10 lbs. and parasitic loss from the belt driven pump.
I dont know if you have catalytic convertors down under either. But there is another simple power mod.
