will not work, a carb needs an air plenum.

it will work, some people have made it work, you'd just probably have to mess with your idle/mixture, since it'll be more restrictive....i've seen what you're talking about on a thread here, just can't remember. search for something like "fabbing a CAI" or along those lines.

Fine don't believe me, waste your money. At 47 I've been there done that many times. The carb hat thing, been there done that. I "have" that exact hat and a K&N hat along with a half a dozen carbs accumulated. Perhaps it may work on a restricted stock port engine with no improvement anyway, in this case an aluminum drier duct going from the air cleaner snout to the rad support would be just as effective for about $10. On a ported engine, the thing will starve for air. Look at my picture of the K&N carb hat and "huge" filter, on my supercharged 13b even without the filter it fell of its face at 6000 rpm. My intent was to run a capri hoodscoop (looks much like a TII scoop) and build a box for the filter,

But heh, don't take some "good honest" advice, go ahead and try it.

The carb hat works only on a "blow through" turbo/supercharger arrangement. In n/a form, a carb needs an intake plenum.

blowthrough set up the filter goes to the turbo and the reason its not restrictive there is because there's air being forced into the engine. where as in N/A there's no forced air so it needs the least amount of restriction as possible to get all that air in there.

the "CAI" will work on a stock motor quite well, but since its a bit restrictive you will have to re-adjust your idle/mixture.

i do agree with 84 stock in the fact that less restriction is better:

not bad, even perhaps nice, I would just run 1 snorkel though. For me on a 12a i would just add a snorkel to the factory air intake tube.

Not to be a buzz kill or offend you; but this would require more effort than its worth considering the Money and time you would spend on it, especialy since you wouldnt gain any power it would probly be more restrictive and u would have to tune accordingly as stated above. Now If u are looking to make power y not upgrade your carb or get a weber (or something similar)?

Even adding a snorkel to your existing air cleaner like stated above would probly be more effective and have a cleaner look. I Made my carb hat using my old k&n filter and the roof of a 86 MonteCarlo (it was the only metal i Had) all you is need a welder. Now if you dont care about loosing or gaining power and want it purely for looks i know theres always a bunch of these carb hats on ebay that are decently priced.
Imo if all u want is somthing that looks "Cool" save your time and money go buy a car with lots of aftermarket support and buy a Hai off ebay like everyone else!!!! Just My .02!

I want one. wonder how much those will cost. wonder if you could pipe the 2 small inlets to one larger one so you could just use one filter.

My cars got an RB power pulse intake I just figured my engine could benefit from colder air from in front of the radiator

I've got the same powerpulse intake, but will change over to CAI once Billy has that new housing available. Last I heard, he was going to change it to a single inlet, rather than dual.

No idea when it will be available, but I'm sure it will be yet another work of art like always.
