broke a window at a baseball game!!!!
i was playing baseball and a kid on the other team hit a far flying foul ball and hit my little passenger side hatch window. it is made of safty glass so it shattered but my window tint held it in place becides where the ball hit it. i am wondering how i go about changing this window. i have a 79 rx-7 that is a parts car and i want to know if that glass will fit. is there any particular way to go about replacing the glass? i have never done this before.
the window is glued and held in place with a screw and nut at the front end on the window . the nut is hidden under the interior trim piece. the rear is held in by sliding the window under a metal piece that is under the exterior trim piece at the rear of the window. you will probably break the plastic trim while gaining access to the metal clamp. you can order a replacement from victoria british. you will need a can of window glue. comes in a container for a caulk gun. use a razor blade to remove from the back side of the glass. and to trim the window seal from the car so you can reglue the window to your rex.

I've never replaced one, but I did try to salvage a pair before junking an FB.
I can add that the black "painted on" trim on the inside edge of these windows is easily scratched, so be careful if you care about detail.
(I failed to salvage them. It is very difficult.)

Oh yea, good luck man. It took me about 6 hours to salvage the 2 in my parts car. You have to saw around the window perimiter to get it out. I used a tiny drill bit to make the initial hole, and many feet of guitar string (.009 E string), and after that broke I used .020 SS saftey wire. Lots of it cause it breaks after a couple of minutes.
