im asking cuz i have a couple choices my first is the entire tranny suspension and rear end from an SE or the whole suspension and diff from an gsl which should i use it is for an 84 gs. mind you the se has been flipped and rolled at 140 MPH so i dont quite no the true condition. the se is a better deal though. 150 for the whole thing maybe less.

That's what Manntis is saying. Posi or Posi traction IS limited slip differential.

Posi-traction is one of GM's sparkling ooo-ahh names for a feature that is common on other cars too, like the NORTHSTAR SYSTEM (v8 engine) or the DRIVER CONTROL SYSTEM (ABS and traction control).

Chevrolet has "Posi-Traction" similar to how Subaru appropriated the term "All Wheel Drive." Manufacturers attempting to define or redefine the English language to imply their version is special.

Then you have full-posi

which means both wheels turn all the time.

great for straight line performance and some even prefer it on some tracks but blows in the winter

I found that out the hard way when I locked up an 84 gs open diff

Theres also different types of LSD systems, our cars use a torsen system, to find out how the different systems act do a search on google, I also think there is some info in the chiltons manual

SE will give you more down low but take away from your top speed slightly

the SE is "better"

A bit misleading. A TorSen differential does not use clutch packs, but a system of gears that mechanically transfers power to the wheel with the most traction. Our cars can be upgraded to TorSen diffs, but have limited slip clutch-type diffs stock.

I am going to give a friendly rubuttal. Most RX7s unless modified has a torsen LSD. definatly the first gen and I believe the second gen has a visious clutch. I also believe the torsen was added in the 3rd gen.

also, the strength of all 84-85 axles are the same , regaurdless of se or not. as the axle shafts are all the same size. in 83 on back they were smaller. THe SE does have the larger vented brakes and the 4.0X gearing as opposed to the smaller non vented brakes and 3.9X gearing.

hey I just said our cars, I didnt say which year.

j/k just remember going over the torsen lsd in the chiltons rx7 manual, never really paid attention to how it was manufactured or which year had it.
