Everyone here likes to say they can take it. But my Buddy put 3 in his 81 with cosmo 13B and no porting, and two rears. My 79 has 3rd making noise sometimes and my last 83 was having 3rd problems.
Yeha you put a really high clamping clutch on the motor and wonder why the tranny breaks?
The n/A trannys are very easy to break with a modded motor. What kind of power are you putting down to warrent putting that kind of clutch on it?

thats very odd. I have been using a 4-puck in the RX-3 and a similar 6-puck in the FB. I have no problem with any of my trannys. In fact, the FB is still equipped iwth the original tranny, and my driving habit is not different from yours.
how about finding a REAL mechanic and stop using USED parts

Don't know how much HP but I know that the motor is TORQUEY. Im more instrested in the toqure # than HP.
As far as HP is concerned I ran 15.5 at LACR. Bald tires and Im not that good of a Drag racer, and I kept up with a SRT- 4 (14lbs) by one car length. He would only pull everytime his turbo spooled, but not by much.

My master does get stuck 3/4 of the way up sometimes, but SOMETIMES, and....

oh well... I got one last spare tranny, 12a, I wanna wait to get it "geared" by Tom @ 7's only, and get that new flywheel a replace a ble friction plate, or just resurfaced.

I personally dont think you are putting down the power to warrent using a turbo II tranny. I think you have been through a lot of crappy rebuilds. The only way id say you need a turbo 2 tranny is if you are boosted or are running some crazy bridgeport monster.
Again your not putting enough power down to be breaking that tranny. When the day comes that you are, id go with a TII tranny, because the FD trannys are a really differnt beast. They use a clutch setup that is really different from most cars, know as a "pull" typle clutch. all other cars are a push type clutch. Anyway ive heard conflicting reports from people who actually believe the turbo II tranny is stronger to begin with. The guy who told be this is lurking around here, and if he wants to chime in the subject hes more than welcome too **COUGH**BLAKE**COUGH**
. Id see if you can get the tranny rebuilt by someone else. Hell I just learned how to do it this week and its stupidly easy! If you access to a hydraulic press you might want to try rebuilding yourself. Just follow the shop manual exactly.
And your right it is about torque for breaking things, but we rotary people dont like to talk about that T word that we all lack
Ryan, it's Brad again.
Tom @ http://www.sevensonly.com/ rebuilds transmissions like no one's business. He's done one of mine, and repaired another too. He can also get you a 626 or Miata gearset in 1st gen trans case bolt in ready to go. Racing season is over so now is the perfect time to have him build you a trans.

Cool thanks Brad, I was just gonna call you up for his #. I need to get the friction plate and the correct counter weight cuz I dont think the one I have is correct, I need for 86-88 rotors.
Thanks again Brad.
