broke choke

so i go to start the car and the choke **** doesn't function. It just slides in and out with no resistance. It is still attached at the carb, so im assuming the cable came off at the ****. So my questions are, Do you think this is the problem, could it be something else? How much of the dash will I have to remove to find out? Until I get this fixed, how do I start the car when it's cold? This is a daily driving car. Thanks.

choke problem

If the cable is broken off inside, you'll probably have to replace the assembly (I have some available). But take it out and disassemble it, may be repairable. If you have a 79-83, the unit is easy to get out, 84-85s are a bit more of a problem.
good luck, Jim
