Different amounts of metal shaved off the intake ports. Bridge port removes all of the metal that you can loose (save for a tinny "bridge" for the corner buttons to slide accross). Street port just extends the time the intake is open.

it's probably best if you read one of the general descriptions like this one:
Mazdatrix on porting

In the way a radical cam will change the valve timings on a piston engine, porting a rotary will have a similar effect to the way the engine breaths. Bridge porting is one of the more aggressive port styles, but there are drawbacks in that your power will be moved way up the rpm range. Driving in traffic will be a problem. And to benefit from it, you will need an exhaust system that will get you arrested, LOL.

Street porting is the more sensible compromise for a car that needs to be driven on the street, thus it's name. Stock ports were intended to consider gas mileage and emissions. Street porting will free up the rotary to perform more as we would like, but with out the headaches as Bridge porting may bring.

Next you can ask about P-Porting.

There is much more to say on this topic....

that's a good explanation. the different porting styles are just like different cams.

the P port is like the 320 degree cam, but WITH the better high flowing heads.
