Breaking in Holley need advise

Hey,

I purchased the stock holley intake setup from racing beat along with header/collector to presilencer no cats to stock burned out fibreglass pack. I also installed the oil baffle plate. And a carter 7psi fuel pump on its own relay.

I havent driven the car since I installed these items because I dont think the wet roads would be the best place to learn the new dynamics.

Can anyone share their Ideas on how I should break this setup in?

I dont want to blow my motor, stock motor had 130 psi front and rear last time I checked.

any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Matt

Matt, are you refeering to breaking in the motor or the new added items?
Because there is nothing to break in on the items you stated, you just drive it.

The motor has 120 kms stock port believe yet the exaust when I purchased her ha interestsing dual secodaries, into a very large "Bosal" muffler. I was thinking that maybe the new parts would add stress to the motors stock components are there and weak points that I should address?

Thanks for the replie.

Just drive it with common sense. It's going to make more hP and rev easier. So just don't over rev it, other then that it's all fun.

The only thing to break in is the driver. Just have some common sense as doc stated, and learn where the changes in the powerband are.

I can remember my Holley carb from stock swap, good days.... really wish I would have went with a Weber, but oh well. I also got flat spots in fuel delivery around corners.

And like everyone else said, just drive it, there is nothing to break in.

Are Holley carbs always like that? Starve out around corners? The Judson blower I put on my 59 Sprite came with a Holley, and it starved out around hard righthanders. (Blew out AP diaphrams, too). Finally, I replaced it with a Harley74 carb from the junkbox at a MC store and it ran like a champ. The HD carb had a doughnut shaped lacquered balsa float. Never could get that Holley to work right so it went in the trash.

With the stock side hung floats, yes. The center hung floats lessen the issue. Keep in mind Holleys mount 90* off of a stock V8 mounting which contributes to the starving.
