I have about 1270 miles on it right now, so I'm getting close to being able to get on it a little bit. I've had it up to 5 k a few times...sounds great!

I've already brought it. I'm waiting on you. Hooah, motherf***er! *L* Oh, and that Energizer battery helps push the air into the engine to cool it down, so that I can sneak up on you quicker. Ha ha.

aarons: Since they're still building it, when will you be getting it? And how soon until it gets into your car once you receive it?

I just drive all over town, just for the hell of it, to break it in. I've seen parts of town I've never seen before and other parts I haven't seen in many years. It's only taken my a little over two months to get to almost 1300 miles, so it isn't too bad. You just have to decide "I'm going to put 150 miles on it this weekend" and then do it.

Raising the RPM limit at regular intervals, as 64MBG suggests, worked for me when I broke in my first FB back in 1980. We raced the car for three years after that, regularly running over redline, and when we tore the engine down after 50K miles to take a look, every part was still within spec.

man 1300 anit no miles at all. I could do that in a week. Just go for senic drives with a girl or something to pass time. I always take my find sarah for a ride on every build ive done/got. We just head out some back roads and just drive its cool having someone to talk to and it helps pass the miles/time.

Here is a link that describes the break-in eriod for a competition built engine.

It would appear that a good 8-10 hour drive will break it in ok.

It should be here in about 2 weeks. It depends on how many problems I run into installing it, its the first rotary i've done so I'm not really sure......wanna help???

Ha, I would if I could. But I have no prior experience to installing a rotary engine before. You'd be better off doing searching with this forum of the Haynes manual.

Man, what are guys talking about taking a long time to get 1000miles? When my dad first got his WRX(s) and his STi, we just hopped in the car, drove 500 miles, turned around, and came home. 500 miles on the interstate takes NO time. You can easily knock out a break in in one day, if you have a free Saturday or Sunday.

We actually made it beneficial, too. We drove to Alabama and stopped at this HUGE fireworks store; bought ~$300 worth of fireworks for $80, and came home.

That's true, but everything I've ever heard or read says it's best to vary the revs....hard to do on the freeway, but very easy to do around town. And it takes a LOT longer to put miles on driving around town.
