Brakes pads? yes I searched

My brakes squeal like crazy everytime I stop. I need to know what the best brake pads are that DON'T SQUEAL. I'm not going 100+ mph, and my tires aren't that sticky, so great braking isn't going to benefit me at all. I just need good brakes that do not sqeal. I searched, but there seemed to be no agreement on which ones squeal and which ones don't. Thanks ahead of time.

Do a few heavy high speed stops, allowing for some cool down time afterwards.

Most of the time, squealing brakes can be fixed by USING them. I've had other techs' comeback cars, where they would apply all sorts of magic goops or shims. I'd simply go for one of my special road tests and the squeal problem would be solved.

ASSUMING of course that the squal isn't due to, say, the pad material crumbling off of the backing plates.

But, generally, all brake pads will squeal, if they are never driven hard at least sometimes.

Hawk seems to be the popular brand.

Get stock Mazda Brake pads they work great and don't make noise, although they cost more than aftermarket pads.

Stay away from Hawk HP+ pads, they are worse than any other pad I have ever used from Autozone (Duralast), or PEP Boys. They stop great, but what you give up in silent running is substantial.

Anyone know if HPS compound are as bad?

I'd go with Stock Mazda Factory pads if you're looking for good wear perfformance and silent operation. Be sure that you have good hardware and are using the right shims, front and rear (if disk rears), along with Disk Brake Squeal Stopper (Blue Loc-Tite) on the backs of the shims on both the piston and caliper side. HTH,

I didn't think you could go any cheaper than stock pads - they're like $15 a set (2 wheels)

i dont think your problem is the pads. if you are having the same problem i am, i have stock pads, and mine squeal like crazy but its becuase im missing my brake shims and that makes it do it too. so make sure you have those in there, otherwise that is most likely your problem.

Stock pads run $40 or more from Mazda, cheap aftermarket pads are $29 in my area.

Mazda pads & get a brake hardware kit. Were not talkin 100s of dollars here, so factory stuff is well worth the embarassment factor
