brake pad recommendations?

I need brake pads for the front of the RX-7S (1985). Any recommendations? I'm pretty sure I have the original factory pads.

Say away from the next level of HAWK, the HP+, they squeal like pigs.

yes. they do. they also dust up your wheels something awful. funnily enough, that's all i've used on my FB, but i don't mind the noise or the dust.

the HPSs are quiet, but they do dust up the wheels some, though nowhere near as much as the HP Pluses. i use the HPSs on my other cars though. the Rx-8 actually has HP Plus up front and HPS at the rear.

Another vote for Hawke HPS for low dust and noise. I had HP+ for a few years there and the brake dust problem was amazing - I was always washing the car just to get the wheels clean again. May not be a problem with some wheels out there, but if brushed/machined lip - you can expect they'll be dingy grey at the slightest provocation.

Hawke makes good products that work well,

Look something like this:

Am I the only person who's had a bad experience with Hawk HPS pads? The backing plates came unglued from my front pads until they moved around and started gouging my hub. Pulled the backing plates off and ran them without and they squealed horribly (possibly due to vibration from no backing plate). Got another set (under warranty from Hawk so good point there) and a backing plate POPPED OFF DURING INSTALLATION!!! Never again.

Thanks - any recommendations for the best place to purchase said Hawk HPS brake pads? Another brake question - are the "front slotted cross drilled rotors" sold by Black Dragon worth a look? My car is bone stock, and I have the 4x110 13" wheels. Front rotors / rear drums. The front rotors appear to be warped some and I know I need to replace the pads. If I were to replace the rotors, would these be worth the investment, or should I be thinking along some other lines?

I got the slotted rotors from Racing Beat, I trust them more than BD for performance
parts.
