brake pad question
I recall reading somewhere that 84-85 GSLs had different size brakes than the GSL-SE, are the pads the same. Specifically the rear ones. I just bough an SE, and there is a rattling coming from the back wheels, when I had the mechanic check it last week before I bought it he said that someone had just put the wrong size pads in. I just want to replace those because the rattling is driving me really nuts. Does anyone know if these will work for me

look here. Also check out the brake thread in the race section for some vendor choices.

you might have the wrong brake pads, or you might have lost the brake pad hardware which dampen the vibration. Two SS springs sit on top and on the bottom of the pads. I lost one of mine and i get a clunk, vibration when i brake and brake while going in reverse. The pad is actually moving up and down because it has the space w/o the spring on top. It's not anything dangerous, just annoying.

Whenever I go over bumps I can hear clanking and rattling from the back. And When the brakes are cold and I start moving there are rubbing noises or clacking noises..

Yea that spring is my problem, but i don't know if i pull the caliper off that i will be able to put it back on in one peice! My other caliper broke the mounting bracket~80$ for a new caliper so i've just stuck with it. No big deal

On the disc brakes you don't have to pull the caliper completely. You just unhook the e-brake cable, then take off the lower caliper mounting bolt, and the caliper will just swing up and out of the way.
