bout to take on my first rebuild...

muhuhuhaaaaaa, no i didn't blow my motor. but i am picking up my friends very large streetported 12a that has bad housings FREEE, never been run!!! brand new atkins kit w/ brand new 3mm apex seals and everything. just leaked coolant due to the junky housings and he's tired of messing with it. i'm going to tear down my current 12a and use the housings from it which will be getting a massive port (spool the turbo up fast what?!), since he's giving me the templates he used WOOOOOT! i'll keep everyone posted on the build w/ pics hopefully. any suggestions?

duct tape the housing while porting so the air grinder doesnt rape it if u slip, oh and use an air grinder with a carbide tip, make sure the corner seal has a place to run and dont hit a coolant jacket other wise happy porting

FB2 get some dykem lay out fluid and a carbide scribe to mark things out if you dont already have em. Any industrial supply house would have these items. If you hav'nt rebuilt a rotary yet just be patient and consult the FSM if in doubt. Also highly recomend new oil control o rings on the sides on the rotors if you dont already have em. And in my FSM the side seal clearance was a misprint it printed the spec as 18 thousandths cleanance between the side seal and corner seal and the correct clearance is 1.8 thousandths...about the thickness of a piece of human hair. That cost me a second tear down so beware. Hope this helper.
