No, it depends on the year too. I have a 83 which has two cats and the 84-85s have three I bleieve. Mine bolts up to that 8 inch pipe right after the stock exhaust manifold then bolts up to the rear pipe that bolts to the muffler. Kinda hard to explain. I'll post pics sometime.

TT, point that "flows" arrow to the back, ie toward the muffler, OK?

So all the cats are gone, right? I think what you are saying is that the total system becomes the following:

Stock manifold ==>Bonez Replacement Pipe ==> RB Muffler

P.S. Are the bonez cat back exhaust (with mufflers) worth considering over the RB muffler?

Yes pjr thats correct. But theres a pipe in between the bonez racew pipe and muffler that is there stock. I'll post pics tomorrow for everybody. Just post in the thread and I'll try and remember.

To you other question, My bonez race pipe has no catalytic converters in it, So, all cats are gone. I would take the bonez race pipe over the rb muffler cause the rb muffler didn't seem to do much except lower the sound.

One last question: how loud? Is it a police magnet?

No, its really low what I wanted. Because the rb muffler. You can hear it, but not like crazy. You know the fartcannons on hondas? Probably half that and thats how loud it is, but no fartcannon sound. I would post a video, but don't know how.

Concerning what the Bonez race pipe sounds like, here are some quotes from earlier in this post that describe the rather pleasant exhaust note pretty well:

"And the exhaust tone with the stock muffler is perfect, in my opinion, a nice throaty rumble unlike the tinny sound you get with a header"

"It also produces a great sound with the stock muffler, a bit more of a rumble than stock but not loud or obnoxius, kind of reminds me of my old MGB"

"Also I like the way mine sounds better, a deeper throaty sound"

"You are a 16-17 year old kid driving around in a sports car with what will be a slightly more noticeable than stock exhaust note - ie you are a red flag for the local police"

Knock knock, hello? Is anybody listening? Or are we just posting stuff to get out counts up?

Anyway yeah, the exhaust note is one of the nicer things about the bonez cat replacement racing pipe.

Now concerning the posting of videos, Trochoid showed me how to do this last week. You make the video and post it on YouTube, then link it here. Here is my first attempt:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7lGhIMeS0A

You can hear the exhaust note in the background, try turning up the sound all the way. Now TT, if you will post one for comparison we can give the forum members some real data instead of our opinions!

I'll check, look for the White One, the Sequil, Part II. I recorded that previous movie to show what proper gauges should look like, inside, with the door closed, and an incorrect 170 degree thermostat.

If I can get my wife or neighbors to help, I might be able to record what I sound like outside, I'd kind of like to hear that too. Hope it sounds as good as yours.

Ray

I really need to get rid of my cats, as I'm running without any emissions, and you guys just convinced me to go with this replacement pipe instead of heading down to an exhaust shop.

Nice vid TT!

Thanks, I wouldnt go to a exhaust shop after getting this. You can tell how toughly built this pipe is when you get it and how strong it is. It definitley can handle the heat of the rotary.

OK TT, I've been studying your production techniques and my crew and I have come out with White One II - The Sequil:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=nO_azjUxukk

Stock except for the 5 year old bonez race pipe that has been installed on three different 84/85 GSLs, with total miles around 130,000.

Nice ray. It definitley sounds similar. Wow, that tells you bonez is meant for rotary heat for not rotting after that many miles

Has anyone put this on a 6 port 13B? Is there anything special that needs to be done to ensure that the aux ports still open correctly?
