Bonez anyone?

I know the consensus of the forum members here is that the complete RB exhaust system is the way to go, but I just thought I would mention that I've had some real good results with simply replacing the tired old stuffed up cats on my 85 GSL with a bonez presilencer. The backyard installation took me about an hour and I immediately got a big boost in power and gas mileage, plus an exhaust note that is nice and full sounding, none of the tinny pinging you get with a header. All for only $150, installation kit and shipping included! Besides saving about $500, the car retains most of its stock exhaust components, in case it needs to return to emmissions legal status, and I didn't have to go through all the trouble of mounting a header. But the best thing is the sweet sound and big power gain, what a difference!

I like bonez, my hi-flow cat works great and passes ca. smog to boot.

That's another plus, if I do have to install a cat I can bolt in the bonez high flow. How does the bonez high flow cat do for sound and power?

I just installed a Bonerz cat in my 85GSL, and it seems to be a little more powerful and a better exhaust note, but not tremendously. There was only 55k on the old cat.

I didn't replace any of the other parts. Maybe I should.

Didn't know that. Suspected something when it didn't have the small air tube for the air pump. Had to transplant the old one.

I still have the cat with 55k, which I may put on the red83 I have with 106k.

Yup that's where I got it from (rx7.com). The guy I talked to was a straight talker who seemed interested in fixing my problem for the least amount of money with the least amount of trouble. Turns out he was right - $150 plus 1 hour backyard labor and the car now runs and sounds like a real sports car.

oh, those guys (Chris & Ari) most certainly know exactly what they're doing... No one will question that...

I'm just saying that the parts they sell are not soem sort of miracle parts.. they are just off teh shelf stuff that they've already done a bit of teh fab work for you on..

I had a "Bonez" high flow on my old car and had no compliants. After installing a coupel on some 2nd & 3rd gens you start to realize that they're all the same peice (of course, the 1st gen ones are cheaper )

Ah yes, another good reason why the 1st gens are best.

BTW, the Rx7.com "performance muffler" is the same one that RB/Mazdatrix uses... Very good stuff..

now if we could just convince the flywheel people that ours are cheaper

(I want an AL flywheel)
