It is fairly normal, mine does the same thing, and is the fuel gauge fluxing or does it stay in one spot??

what year is your 7? there are wiring differences between the S1, S2, and S3. a little bit of blue smoke is normal on startup but if its thick and continues until the engine is warm there could be issues with the oil control rings on the rotors.

Blue smoke is oil. It's not unusual for high-mileage rotaries to smoke a little at startup. As long as it goes away after a short time, you're fine.

If it's not smoking a little at start up you need to check your OMP, that might not be working.

Start up smoke is good, but if you want to get a little less of it, try this stuff:

From my experience, starting with the choke on will also cause a lot of blue smoke due to the way it works.

An engine with good oil control rings and the correct OMP setting shouldn't visibly smoke at all. But a little smoke isn't going to hurt anything.

Check the carb. If the float bowls drain down into the engine while sitting, it will blow blue.

Mine does that.

If I kill the fuel pump and let the engine drain the fuel bowls while running.... No smoke.

No one has been able to figure out why it bleeds down.
