How hard did you hit the curb for your wheel to come off the hub? (Assuming I read your post right and it was the wheel and not the rubber.)

Sounds to me like he is saying he completely ripped the whole damn wheel off. Stripped out the brake rotor, so the lug nuts won't thread into it anymore.

If that's the case, you will need a new brake rotor and a serious alignment job/replace the suspension parts you bent.

Yes, you could probably get it pretty easy at a junkyard, you just have to know exactly what you need. Take some pics too, I wanna see how bad it is

Uh, I think he means just the studs are stripped. If that's the case, just buy some new wheel studs and go get an alignment. On a side note, have you been drinking? lol

**** son, Im confused .

I think that when he hit the curb, it ripped the wheel off, stripping the holes on the brake rotor. That makes sense to me... I would just think that there would be more damage than just that.

You might want to have someone you know who's very competent mechanically take a look at it. It's very hard to diagnose your problem without actually seeing what you're talking about. I don't want to see our forum advise sell you one part short and have your wheel come flying off again.

I would upload a pic if I were you. Go get one of those cheap cameras with like 12 exposures and take some pictures of the damage. When you get them developed, make sure you check the cd box on the film package, that way you can upload to the forum without having to scan them.

If that's the front wheel hub that got creamed, you will need a front rotor and hub and possibly/probablly new front wheel bearings, races, packed with grease and new lug nuts or now's a good time to switch to lug studs and normal lug nuts which can be gotten at good price from:

www.sevensonly.com.

If it's the rear that got creamed you're looking at new or more likely used junkyard rear axel and studs/nuts plus bearing. Possibly calipers and mounting brackets.

I work in Cerritos and live in Redondo Beach, CA. Owned a 81 7 since 1988 If you'd like me to check out your car just PM me.

i'm glad that did'nt happen to me. a while back me and my brother were riding in the rain and spun the car around while switching into second and hit the front right tire on the side, did'nt hurt the wheel but every bump or vibration in the road that we felt after that, we blamed it on the tire. cool experience.
we were'nt drinking......that i remember. j/k

I slightly damaged two of my rear axle threads last year when I failed to tighten an axle puller on well enough (was doing my rear wheel bearings). I was able to use a tap to clean/redo the threads to save replacing the axle - good as new. What you're talking about sounds a lot worse than what I did though (I could bolt on wheels but the lug bolts would get stripped when I unscrewed them).

holy ****. the title of this thread should be something like.........

i was trying to wrc in the rain and ripped off a wheel

and then give out an english translator and/or some excedrin.

good luck man. also check the whole suspension as you probably bent other things. check the frame for any bends or fractures and get an alignment when fixed.

Chances are if you hit the curb with enough force to break off your wheel, there's other damage to your car besides some wheel studs. Definately get the car checked out by a professional if you can't yourself.

curbs are nothing. i let a guy drive my car, he smacked a curb goin like 40 and all i had to replace was the control arm. cost me less than 100 bucks even after the alignment

dude
Drive up to any junkyard and just grab the entire strut assembly along with the hub and rotors. I live in Los Angeles and last week, there were at least 4 1st gens at pick up part in sun valley. Its not hard to do just bring a coupe of tools. 14mm to unbolt the strut tower and 17 mm to unbolt the bottom and a knife to cut the brake line off.

there ya go. If you need help, let me know.
