Better spark?

I just got back from PR for xmas and I went to the strip and saw lots of good looking rx2s'3'4 and 7s they ran fast, anyway, get to my point I was looking at their distributors and most of them ran dual coils and duals msd box's!Asking to see if that set up is better than Direct fire ? And what are the ups and downs?

That's the setup on a lot of road racing cars I've seen here in Aus... MSD on both leading and trailing still firing through the dizzy.
