gamble302 is right, for the stock 13's the Sumitomos are the best tire, especially cost-wise. If you have 14 inch wheels then get the Azenis because they are definately a step up.

I wouldn't go any wider than a 185/60/13 on stock (13") rims. I've been doing a wierd thing lately, putting taller and narrower tires (175/70/13) on my cars for highway driving. My mileage is much better, they're quieter, and the speedometer is dead on. There is also less tendancy for the tires to follow road irregularities, and the ride is smoother. Last but not least, the car is actually faster, at least in a relatively straight line.

Not necessarily.
It takes more power to turn a wider tire than a narrower one.
And the resultant change in final gearing may actually suit the engine's powerband better.

you can get 245/13s from mickey thompson if you want. I know a guy running around with those on the rear.

i have 235 mickey thompsons in the rear. as far as taller being able to turn the tire quicker than wider, i have to disagree also. for off the line grip you want a wider tire, for highway use go with a taller tire because taller tire creates better momentum, but to get them to get the better momentum you sacrifice acceleration at lower speeds. i suggest finding a tire as close to stock size as possible to make them cost effective and make them run like the car is supposed to. if they are 14" try 215/60's or something.

True. But I was thinking on the bigger circumference wheel against a smaller one, rather than the width. 175/70/13 for example, compared to my 215/50/13.

Umm, let's see, how bout stock tires, like the manufacturer suggested - 185/70/13s. I'm with Wankelguy, it's kind of nice when your tires track well, give you maximum HP, gas mileage and traction, and don't cost too much. I've had a set of Yokohama AVID Tourings, SMOOTH ride, excellent traction and handling, 80,000 mile tread life, $220 includes everything (shipping, installation and tax) at Discount Tire, I think it was. Highly recommended.

I've personally been really happy with Toyo Proxes. I had a set of Goodyear Eagle GT+4 that came with it and the Toyos run much better grip wise and are quieter, and are wearing better. Can only say from personal experience.

205-60 sumitomo htr 200's (assuming it doesn't see snow) and you'll be satisfied.

For stock wheels, BF Goodrich radial T/A 195/60/13 in the front, 205/60/13 in the rear. They last a decent amount, give good feedback, and the white lettering looks hard.

lol, let's assume that your conjectured .00001 hp is correct.

.00001>0 isn't it?

Therefore my statement that "it takes more power to turn a wider tire than a narrower one" is completely correct.

Still, this being America, you are free to disagree with the laws of physics to your heart's content.
