older taurus(not sure what model or years, just search taurus fan)

I prefer the 17" Derale electric fan myself....temps stay where I want them, fan currently set for 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Shot taken while fitting fan to Wizard Al radiator.

Fiero fan, get the V6 one, not the inline 4 fan.

I sorta dig the charcoal gray on the irons. Is it flat black? It makes the engine look fresh for the 80s. lol Now just get that carb to look like new (cadmium plating) and paint the master cylnder.

how exactly have you guys set these fans up? i'm assuming just a power and a ground and then a toggle switch of some sort inside the car? i dont know if i want to go to through the hassle of getting it automated w/ the temp.

A thermoswitch from Autozone, which I hooked up to a fan relay the second time around to have a real relay with an adjustable thermostat.

E-fan

This is the fan I have been using for the last year or so with no temp problem.

I use the Fiero V-6 one on my Se with a simple toggle switch.
If you choose to use the Fiero V-6 one you will have to remove the lower accessory pulley. Which means no A/C or P/S. the motor on the fan does not allow the clearance of the accessory pulley.

I don't know what the average temps are where you are at but in Central Oregon right now I don't even have to turn the fan on. I've been in stop and go traffic and at stop lights and the temp never creeps up. The only time I have had to put it on is when it was in the 90's and I was at stop lights.

correction here:
Fiero and Taurus fans can only be used as a puller. they are strong and I have them too. However, you cant use them IF you have a A/C and P/S as it wont clear the pulley extension on 13-B motors. Your only option is to find something thinner BUT the CFM rating is lower.

And I agree with Mar on the Derale. It is a good fan and if you get the 16", it will cover most of the radiator and oil cooler. It has to be mounted as a pusher, and it is reversible.

and here's a trick also. Mounted it towards the passenger side to blow more air to the headers/exhaust manifold. This will cool off the intake manifold/carb.

Fiero on tall radiator

Fiero on short radiator

I have to disagree with you on that one. the 4bangger fiero fan will work as good as a V6 fan. thats what I have in my FB and no overheating issues.

I did on my old engine, but not anymore for some odd reason. It would get hot when I'd drive fast, and if I did a burnout or a donut it would get hot really fast. But for some odd reason with this new engine and the same fan, it stays at 1/3 regardless of how I'm driving, save for that one massive burnout I did where it creeped up to 1/2.

getting hot on freeway speed = clogged radiator.

The rad is new, but I've done nothing to unclog it. It only did it at full throttle at speed, not cruising.

Your statement is confusing at best?

If a radiator is brand new then it can't be clogged. Are you stating that you replaced the radiator when you installed the replacement engine? Or did you have the new radiator in the old engine and it ran hot on the freeway?

The previous owner replaced the radiator just before I bought the car a year ago. on the original engine with the fiero fan, it would overheat easily, like it wasn't getting enough air through the radiator. Old engine had a oil control ring failiure, so I built up a new engine for it. Same radiator, same fan, with a relay hooked up to the mechanical thermoswitch, it now runs cool. I don't think the relay makes a difference in fan performance, but it allows me to switch on the fan with the signal to the AC compressor.

The other good thing about this fan is it will zip tie into the stock fan shroud. You don't end up with a hacked up shroud.

alright. i got a flexalite syclone (i dont know why they misspelled it). think its rated near 300cfm. now as far as wiring it...lets say hypothetically i'm too lazy to run a wire to inside the car because i'm wanting to hide all my wires in my engine bay. would running it to my leading coil (because i'm not going to have a trailing coil due to the 2gcdfis) as a power supply? or is that too inconsistent? thanks.
