My alternator belt used to squeek on startup, it was loose. I loosened the two alt bolts and repositioned the alt so there was enough tension on the belt and its been fine since.

^^so is that your issue? also check to make sure you put the belt on correctly, I know it sounds stupid but my dad told me the my bro flipped a belt inside out and then put it on his truck and could never figure out why the belt would squel, alt wouldn't charge, and the engine keep getting warmer than it should. Also if the car is new to you check the alinement of the pulleys as they might be off for some reason.

Check to see that there isn't extra drag on the water pump pulley or the alternator pulley... also is the spacer still there for the alternator mount? If your alt is positioned incorrectly (a bit fore or aft) then you may have a lot more drag on the belt causing premature failure.

Ok I may see if thats the problem...
And no the problem wasn't a loose belt.. I was laughing that someone would suggest that... That I would be to lazy to tighten it, even though I"ve already changed belts twice...
What is this:: and how do I loosen it...?
