Clutch squeak

so from searching all the threads, I think the problem is with the clutch fork and the tob. There is a squeak/creak noise and the clutch pedal movement is sticky. There are no bearing noises when in neutral, or in gear, clutch in or out. In fact with the car shut off it squeaks when I let the clutch back in, especially when I move the clutch really slow. It's gets worse when the engine heats up say 15 minutes into the drive. Cold engine and tranny it's almost undetectable. If its the tob sticking to the tranny cover and not sliding easily due to lack of grease, can I take off the starter motor and reach it with my finger or something else and put grease on it? The clutch works great, it just seems the tob isn't sliding on the tranny cover tube. I put in all new hydraulics master, slave and hose.

It's probably the springs on the pressure plate itself - in which case, get used to it.

So what's the fix? Does it need fixing? It squeaks pretty loud after the engine and transmission are good and hot.

Mine makes the same noise, but it doesn't really matter whether it's warmed up or not. It also does get louder when I move the pedal gradually. I had to do some work on the clutch where I had to replace the master and slave cylinder and I have just started to notice it too, although I think it made the noise before. Mine has been making this noise for awhile, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The pedal gets stickier as it heats up and then is fairly hard to push to the floor when the engine and tranny are hot. The faster you move the pedal the less it squeaks and sticks. So you don't think the tob sliding on the tranny cover has anything to do with it? New pressure plate and clutch would fix it likely?

The TOB slides on the tranny input shaft. My pedal doesn't really get sticky. I'm not sure as to what it could be? I guess it could be from wear on the clutch parts if it's pretty old. Maybe somebody else has had this problem, and figured it out.

Could also be lack of grease on the pivot ball for the clutch fork.. The ***** can wear/break off. Have you experienced a change in pedal engagement height?

I did adjust the clutch pedal engagement height early on. I wanted it to engage closer to the floor and not so near the end of pedal travel when you take your foot off. I had a Miata that had a similar squeak, but a glob of grease on the slave push rod where it meets the clutch fork fixed that. Not so with this car. Any ideas why it's worse when hot?

The pivot ball I was refering to is inside the tranny. It is what the spring clip snaps over to hold the fork in place. I don't know if you can get to it, much less see it, externally.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the pivot ball from pictures and the manual. Can't get to it from the outside. If it's pressure plate springs and not a sign of something about to break leaving me stranded then I'll likely live with it until I decide to upgrade the clutch. It is loud and a little embarrassing, you know old cars and loud squeaks, but if not a sign of imminent parts failure I'll spend my time and money on other improvements. Thanks for the opinions.
