BAttle With Rust

My 7 has some rust and i can't stand the thought of letting it rust away. I have heard about this product called POR 15 does anyone have experience with this product? I have heard only good things about it but I was wondering what your thoughts were about it. I searched and read the website. Im just looking for something to completely stop rust. I know its almost impossible to really stop it but this product swears it does. my poor 7 is dieing

I used rust bullet and loved the stuff! (POR15 is just as good). Sticks hard if you follow the instructions. Paint the chassis with this stuff and then fill the frame rails and other parts of the car with expanding foam to increase the rigidity of chassis and increase structural integrity.

I recommend handi foam.

Like wise big POR fan-
read the site's recommendations completely and make sure you get the supporting products like the Metal Ready and Marine Clean. POR seems near bullet-proof once applied and really loves a bit of rust to get a "bite" on the metal - actually has the most trouble sticking to too-clean surfaces (eg smooth metal). Beware!!: need some disposable gloves like the Nitrils you can by by the box (100) at a ProPaint supply store for about $15 Anything you get this stuff on - it has to WEAR OFF (eg: skin!!!) be prepared to throw away any clothing your wearing... this stuff will NOT come off!
Have lots of cheap paint brushes on hand - just throw away after use.
Also: once you open the can, you MUST reseal with something like saran-wrap, etc betw the lid and can OR IT WILL NEVER RE-OPEN!! I actually dump the spare stuff into a glass mayonayse jar and seal lid with plastic bag between - then put it in the fridge. Has lasted for years with numerous projects...

+1 on using gloves and crappy clothing etc when using this stuff. It's good stuff, I've been using it for a long time, as mentioed above make sure to use marine clean and metal ready whenever you can. Por15 will work on its own, but that products do help quite a bit.
The one thing to remember is that rust often starts where two layers of metal are put together, such as any of the seams holding the car together, and POR15 won't do much to stop the rust inside there... If that is the case you'll have to do some metal work to get all the crap out of there, and the sealer in..
Good luck, nice to see other people on here fighting rust, rather than just scrapping these cars!

one easy way that i've found to clean up your hands if you don't use any glove is actually spray WD-40 on your hands rub it in real good, then from there just use mechanics soap and it comes out pretty easily.

I did lots of sandblasting, lots of cutting/welding, and in those hard to reach places Permatex Rust treatment.

Currently the car is painted and being re-assembled.... But I recommend to everybody to do something about the rust, No matter how small, get rid of it.

I had rust all over the rear suspension mounts and the wheelwells were pretty bad but I removed as much as I could.... I used stainless steel for all the repairs.... so the rest of the car will disappear and a set of wheelwells will remain.... 500 years from now...lol

stainless and regular steel welded together will rust even faster than just having repaired it with regular sheet metal.

LOL, I'll take my chances!! the steel body could rust but stainless is stainless.

Regular steel welds are prone to rust if not coated right away.
